Quickie

Just a quick post tonight. I am tired and my little one has had a tough day. It seems she keeps having accidents. She must be at a strange growing stage where she trips a lot. Oh well. Lost is on tonight. Yeah !! We are recording it to watch later this evening so we can fast forward through the commercials. I hope there is quite a bit of new material. The season opener was disappointing because it was mostly recap.

I went to Michael's and Hobby Lobby to pick up some knitting things. Nothing exciting, some yarn and thread for new projects that I'll be starting soon. I did want to put up my latest finished piece. The cabin rug from Lion Brand. I just don't know where to put it. If I put it on the floor the cat will lay on it and pull out some of the yarn. My hubby wants to put it in the bathroom. I don't know. Maybe I can gift it to someone. But who ???

Hurricane Photos

I returned from SnB. I have almost finished my fun fur scarf. It looks nice and very soft. I'll put up some photos soon of my finished/in progress work. I wanted to openly apologize to one of my fellow SnB friends. I suggested that in an emergency that they could have eaten their chickens. I thought they raised chickens but it turns out the chickens are pets. Oops. Again, my apologies.

I have uploaded some Hurricane Rita photos. These were taken where we rode out the storm. As you can see the damage was just a few tree limbs and then of course this tree was uprooted. Power went out around midnight and then we drove home at 11 am the next morning. Sorry for the poor photo layout but I am learning.

Grocery Shopping

Today was weird. The city is still fairly empty. We went to Cost Plus and Toys R Us. We were one of a few people out and about. The mall was packed. Especially the play area. Wow !! First Colony Mall has such a wonderful play area for toddlers. Unfortunately, most parents let kids of any size and age play in the area. Why is it that parents don't watch their kids anymore. Maybe when my toddler gets older I'll be that way. I doubt it !! Raising a well behaved child is to important.

We also went grocery shopping. We knew that a few items might be missing from the shelves but it was more like a nuclear fallout. The shelves were picked clean. No produce, no dairy, no meat, no bread, no canned goods, limited drinks. I bought whatever we could to eat for this week so we won't have to go to the grocery store again until everything normal next weekend. I asked when they would be getting more supplies. They funny thing was that they have been getting new trucks every morning but they sell out by the evening. I guess people think that because the power was out everything in the fridge is bad but that's NOT true. If you don't open the fridge everything stays good for 48 hours.

I am just glad this is all over and back to normal tomorrow. I have SnB tomorrow and am looking forward to getting out of the house to chat with adults.

First Post

Hi All ! I have finally started my own blog. It's a little strange to put something on the web for everyone to read but I think it'll be fun. I was inspired to finally create my own blog by some of the people in my SnB group. I enjoy reading their blogs and looking at their photos.

I hope to post some photos soon of finished projects and I have two Hurricane Rita photos. I went through Hurricane Andrew (1992) in Miami and I was not going to experience another Cat 5 storm. However, the evacuation was a disaster. It took us over 8 hours to go less than 50 miles from the house. Thankfully some strangers from the northside let us stay two nights at their house to weather the storm. We can never thank the Emerson's enough. It ended up being worse up their then it was at our house but I at least knew the baby would be safe and have electricity.

Just a note about the title of my blog I am someone who knits/crochets and I graduated from Florida State Seminoles. Go Noles !! If anyone has any good crochet/knit patterns for the Noles then email me.
